US Team Loses To Japan in Women's World Cup Finals

US Team Loses To Japan in Women's World Cup Finals

It was an error that the US women's team would really like to undo if there is a way. Three penalty kicks are all it takes for them to win this year's WWC title but it never happened and Japan's team won their first-ever WWC match after 26 matches and their first ever WWC title. Well, they deserved to win it since they also show more than 100% determination, fight and toughness as the US was lauded for throughout the tournament.

It seems that in any aspect, Japan will always surface when the going gets tough. They survived the worst earthquakes and tsunami disasters and they did it with composure and determination. In this World Cup Women's event, they also showed the same attitude and it paid off. The first equalizer in the 80th minute was a present from the US defenders, but after Abby Wambach put the U.S. ahead 2-1 in extra time with yet another crucial header, the tournament's leading scorer, Japan's Homare Sawa, scored a wonderful goal off a corner in the 116th minute to push the game to penalties. Then, it was all uphill for the Japanese women.

It was really a tight game and the two teams played very well. The US and Japan teams do deserve the second and 1st place, respectively, for this year's World Cup Women finals. That's why, a lot of people would really like to witness it all over again.
